Who This Is For

When the Usual Approaches Haven’t Been Enough

Weight is influenced by health, medications, sleep, stress, environment, and more—not simply willpower. This program is for adults who want to better understand what may be affecting their weight and receive medical guidance tailored to their needs.

This program may be a fit if you:

  • Have difficulty losing weight despite making changes
  • Have repeatedly lost and regained weight
  • Are experiencing weight-related health concerns
  • Want to know whether weight loss medication is appropriate
  • Need a plan that considers your health history and medications
  • Want continued guidance rather than another short-term diet
Understanding Weight

Weight Is Influenced by More Than Food and Exercise

Eating and physical activity matter, but they are not the only factors that affect weight. Sleep, stress, medications, health conditions, hormonal changes, metabolism, and daily routines can all make losing or maintaining weight more difficult.

Physician-led care looks at these factors together, helping you move beyond generic advice and focus on the changes most relevant to your health.

A Complete Evaluation

Understanding What May Be Affecting Your Weight

Your care begins with a thorough evaluation of your health, previous experiences, and personal goals. Based on your individual circumstances, Doctor Hudson may review:
  • Your weight history and previous weight-loss attempts
  • Existing health conditions and family history
  • Current medications and supplements
  • Eating patterns and nutritional needs
  • Physical activity and physical limitations
  • Sleep, stress, and daily routines
  • Previous or current laboratory results
  • Body composition when appropriate
  • Your goals and treatment preferences
What’s Included

A Medical Weight Loss Plan Designed Around You

Every plan is built around you. These are the three pillars we draw from, combined in whatever proportion fits your health, your history, and your schedule.

Medication Management

FDA-approved weight loss medication, including GLP-1 medication, may be considered when clinically appropriate. Doctor Hudson will review your medical history, treatment options, potential risks, and ongoing monitoring needs.

Nutrition, Movement, and Lifestyle Support

Receive practical recommendations for nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress, and daily habits. Your plan will be designed to work with your health needs and real-life schedule.

Ongoing Support

Follow-up appointments provide accountability, progress monitoring, and opportunities to adjust your treatment. Support may include individual follow-ups and group programs based on your needs.
Medication Options

Medication Can Be One Part of the Plan

Weight loss medication is a medical tool—not a requirement or a complete treatment plan by itself. Whether medication is appropriate depends on your health history, current conditions, previous treatment, and individual risks and needs.

When clinically indicated, your care may include:

  • GLP-1 or other FDA-approved weight loss medication
  • A review of potential benefits, risks, and side effects
  • Guidance on using medication alongside lifestyle changes
  • Monitoring of your response and overall health
  • Adjustments based on effectiveness and tolerability
  • Planning for long-term weight management

Medical Weight Loss FAQs

Your Weight Loss Questions, Answered

Medical weight loss is physician-directed care designed to help patients lose weight and improve their overall health. It may include a medical evaluation, nutrition and activity recommendations, behavioral support, ongoing monitoring, and medication when clinically appropriate.
Eligibility depends on factors such as your medical history, current health conditions, previous weight-loss efforts, medications, and individual risks. Doctor Hudson will complete an evaluation before recommending or prescribing medication.
GLP-1 medications may be prescribed when they are clinically appropriate and safe for the individual patient. They are not the right choice for everyone, and receiving an evaluation does not guarantee that a specific medication will be prescribed.
Results vary based on your starting point, health, treatment plan, medication response, and consistency over time. Doctor Hudson will help you set realistic goals and monitor progress, but no specific amount or rate of weight loss can be guaranteed.
Weight loss may help improve certain health markers associated with prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease, and physical function. Results vary, and weight loss care should complement the treatment provided by your primary care physician and other specialists.
Yes. Doctor Hudson is licensed in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, and Washington, D.C. Telehealth is available while you are physically located in one of these jurisdictions, and mobile visits may be available depending on location and scheduling. Outside North Carolina, patients must use traditional Medicare or self-pay.
